Friend's father Thomas died in 1889. His brother Joseph moved to live in Great Yarmouth, which may explain the connection to Nolfolk.

 

Friend was killed in Palestine. His name appears on the Roll of Honour in Norwich Cathedral and Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel.

 

The British Cemetery in Jerusalem was built for fallen servicemen in the First World War and is situated on Mount Scopus, next to the Hebrew University, and 4.5km north of the Old City.
