The 1st to 4th Tyneside Scottish Battalions formed 102nd Tyneside Scottish Brigade as part of the 34th Division.
Albert was severely wounded in the shoulder on 11th April 1918, and died of his wounds and tuberculosis of the lungs at Whitkirk V.A.D. Auxiliary Hospital.
He attended Golcar Baptist Chapel and was a member of the Young Men's class. His name appears on their Roll of Honour and also at St. John's Church, Golcar.
