Son of Joe (a Power Loom Weaver) and Christine.

Died of wounds: 28th November 1918. Aged 24.

 

Buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille. Plot 12. Row A. Grave 8.

 

Location: Northern outskirts of Boulogne.

 

The first rest camps for the Commonwealth forces were established near Terlincthun in

 

August 1914, and during the whole of the First World War, Boulogne and Wimereux housed numerous hospitals and medical establishments.

 

Asa died in the 3rd Canadian Hospital, Boulogne, of bronchial pneumonia as a result of gas poisoning.

 

He was educated at Crow Lane Board School, Milnsbridge, where his name appears on the Roll of Honour and also at St; John's Church, Golcar.
