Died of wounds 23 October 1918 aged 33 years.

Frank worked in the cloth finishing department at C & J Hirst's at Longwood where he was well known and popular. He attended Golcar Baptist Church and was formerly a member of the Reading Room.

 

He had been sent to France initially, then transferred to Italy in November 1916, returning to France in September 1918.

 

His wife received a letter from his officer telling her that he had been very sever.n wounded by machine gun fire and had died shortly afterwards. The regimental caries record the 20th Battalion involved in a dawn attack on the 20th October along the of the River Richemont, and quotes "The attack was not successful owing to the number of heavy machine guns untouched by our artillery fire".
