Fred Taylor
Private 29/601. 11th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers.
Born: 1894 in Golcar.
Son of the late James Taylor and Levial Atkinson (formerly Taylor).
Brother of George William, Mary Hannah, Clare, Percy (also killed), Harry and Sarah Ellen.

Died of wounds 7th June 1917. Aged 23.

Fred was a member of Wellhouse Liberal Club, and had three brothers also serving in France. Percy also lost his life two months after Fred.
He embarked for France in the summer of 1916, but had been invalided home with trench feet ten weeks before he died of his wounds at No. 44. Casualty Clearing Station.
Fred's wife received news in late June that he had died of wounds in action. She was given no more information at the time.
His name appears on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church, Golcar.
