Son of John William and Sarah.

 

Brother of Harry and Norman.

 

Address: 131 Station Road, Golcar.

 

Occupation: Assistant to his father as Rate Collector and Sanitary Inspector.

 

Enlisted: March 1916.

 

Embarked for France in January 1917.

 

Killed in action: 3rd May 1917. Aged 22.

 

Commemorated on the Arras Memorial to the Missing. Bay 6.

 

Wilfred was secretary of the Christian Endeavour Society and also was a teacher and assistant secretary of Golcar Baptist Sunday School.

 

He was reported missing, presumed killed at the Battle of Bullecourt, and has no known grave. His name appears on the Roll of Honour at St. John's Church, Golcar; Golcar Baptist Church and Huddersfield Drill Hall.
