Son of Mr. John Dennison Sykes and Harriet Annie.
Brother of Gertrude, Alice Maud and Maggie.

Enlisted in 1914.
Killed in action on 25th July 1917. Aged 27.
Buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport, France. Plot 4. Row B. Grave 6B.
Hilton enlisted in the Territorials at the outbreak of war, and embarked for France in April 1915. He had previously been wounded and had been home, but after returning to France
he died from wounds received by a gas shell explosion at No. 3 General Hospital, Le Treport.
Mr Sykes received a telegram informing him of the death of his eldest son from the War Office.
Hilton had been in America for twelve months before the war began. He was a member of Golcar Church and Conservative Club. He was a former pupil at Clough Head School. His name is on the Roll of Honour at St. John's Church Golcar and St.James's Church, Slaithwaite.
