Leonard had been working from the age of 14. He attended Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel and his name is on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church Golcar.
Vis-en-Artios and Haucourt are villages on the straight main road from Arras to Cambrai about 10km south of Arras.
The Memorial bears the names of over 9,000 men who fell in the period from 8th August 1918 to the Armistice, in the Advance in Picardy and Artios, between Loos and the Somme and have no known grave.
