William Henry Smith

Killed in action 16th September 1917. Aged 39.
Commemorated on the Arras Memorial to the Missing. Panel 6.
William was secretary to the Wellhouse branch of the Sons of Temperance.
He embarked for France in February 1917, and was reported missing presumed killed in September, just seven months later. His name appears on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church Golcar.
His brother Arthur was killed two years previous, on 8th December 1915
