Listed as 'Rowland' in army records, but signed himself Roland. He was wounded on 28th May 1918, and had only been back in France for three weeks when he was killed by a bursting shell near Marcoing.
He attended Golcar Providence Methodist Church, and is on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church Golcar.
