Son of Mr & Mrs Alfred Roberts.
Brother of Annie, John, Ada and Norman.
Address: 112, Handel Street, Golcar. Parents later moved to Guildford, Surrey.
Occupation: Piecer at Ben Hall & Son, Milnsbridge.
Called up - July 1914.
Date of Death: 22nd September 1917., aged 20.

The cemetery is 4km S.E. of leper (Ypres) town Centre. It was begun in April 1915 by a small larch plantation, and extended after the Armistice when graves were brought in from Ypres and other small cemeteries.
Arthur's parents received a letter from the Major of his Battery, who was with him at the observation post in the trenches when a shell struck, which killed him instantly. He said that Gunner Roberts was a very brave lad and most cheerful under trying circumstances.
He had served two years in the Territorials before the war, and had been in France nearly three years. He was at home at Christmas 1916 on a short on furlough.
His older brother John was killed in August 1916.
