Died of wounds: 27th April 1917. Aged 30.

Charlie's wife received a letter form the sister in charge of the 12th Casualty Clearing Station in France on the 3rd May 1917 to inform her that her husband had died from wounds received in action. Two days earlier, a letter had arrived saying he was wounded and in hospital.
He enlisted in the North Staffordshire Regiment in November 1916 and went out to France in late February and was transferred to the Manchester Regiment.
He was a member of Golcar Providence Methodist Church, and his name appears on their special Memorial window.
