Victor Mallinson

Son of William and Grace of 5 Ramsden Mills Bottom, Golcar. They had 11 children, 7 of whom died before 1911.
Brother of Louisa, Elizabeth and Norman.
Married Carrie Taylor in Spring 1914.
Occupation: Woollen Scribbler - night feeder.
Address: Rose Cottage, 41, Handel Street, Golcar.
Enlisted August 1914.
Embarked for France November 1914.
Killed in action: 15th April 1918. Aged 26.
Buried at Chocques Cemetery. 1V. D.27.
Chocques is 4km north west of Bethune.
Victor had been home on leave in July 1917, and was killed five months later. His name appears on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church, Golcar.
From January 1915 to April 1918 the No.1 Casualty Clearing Station was at Chocques. Most of the 1,666 burials from that period are the casualties who died from wounds received at the Bethune Front.
