Son of Ann and the late Sutcliffe.

Brother of Mary, Nanny, Sarah Ellen, Miriam, Wilfred and Allen.

Enlisted: 17th May 1917

Died of wounds: 12th April 1918. Aged 19 years.

Buried at La Kreule Military Cemetery, Hazebrouk. Plot 1. Row C. Grave 23.

Sutcliffe was educated at Scapegoat Hill school. He also attended Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel and worked for the Sunday school, his name and that of his brothers appears on the Roll of Honour there.

Sutcliffe's two brothers, Allen and Wilfred killed in action within nine days of each other in October 1918.
