Joe Garside

Husband of Sarah Jane.

Occupation: Weaver at Peckett & Sons, Portland Mills, Lindley.

He attended Scapegoat HII Baptist Chapel and Liberal Club.

Killed in Action: 7th June 1917. Aged 34.

Commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing. Panel 47.

Joe's wife received news of his death from the War Office in mid July. He was a member of Golcar Cricket and Bowling Club and attended Scapegoat Hill Baptist Chapel and was also a member of the Liberal Club. His name is on the Roll of Honour in St. John's Church, Golcar and Bethel Methodist Chapel, Outlane.
