Hubert Everitt

Eldest son of Mr & Mrs Henry Everitt.
Brother of Albert.

Killed in action: 21st March 1918.

Hubert was wounded on 22nd July 1917 and admitted to an American hospital in France suffering from shrapnel wounds in his right side and arm. From there he was conveyed to Southampton, and on the night of 31st July he arrived with a convoy of wounded at Royds Hall Military Hospital. He celebrated his 28th birthday there and when visited by his mother was progressing very satisfactorily.
He later returned the front, where he was reported missing on 21ts March 1918, and afterwards presumed to have been killed on that day. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Poziers Memorial to the missing.
He attended Parkwood Methodist Chapel and was secretary for the Band of Hope. His name appears on the Roll of Honour at St. John's Church Golcar, Parkwood Methodist and Crow Lane School.
