Albert Edward Everitt

Son of Mr. & Mrs Henry Everitt.

 

Private 24521. 10th Battalion. Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment.

 

Brother of Hubert.

Enisted June 1916, embarked for France 24th October 1916.

 

Killed in action: 20th September 1917. Aged 24.

 

Commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial. Panel 82 to 85. And 162A.

 

At first Albert was reported missing, but later news arrived from the War Office confirming that he had been killed in action. His brother Hubert was reported missing six months later, on 21st March 1918.

 

He was educated at Crow Lane Board School and attended Parkwood Methodist Chapel and Sunday School, Longwood and was in the Chapel choir. His name appears on the Longwood War Memorial, and Roll of Honour in Crow Lane School and St. John's Church Golcar.
