Tom had been in the army for 18 months, and in France since January 1917. He was reported missing, presumed killed at the Battle of Bullecourt. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial to the Missing along with 34,949 others.
He had been educated at Crow Lane Board School, and attended Milnsbridge Wesleyan Methodist Sunday School.
His name appears on the Roll of Honour in Huddersfield Mission, Milnsbridge, St. John's Church, Golcar, Crow Lane Board School and Huddersfield Drill Hall.
