Born 12th May 1887. Baptised at St. John's Church Golcar 21st June 1887.

 

Son of Joshua (Rag and Waste Puller and employer of Drakes Mill) and Jane.

 

Brother of Frank and Florence.

 

Address; 3 Stanley Place - formerly Handel Street, Golcar.

 

Occupation; Weft man employed at his father's mill Messrs Drake & Co. Waste Dealers, Manor Mills, Golcar.

 

Enlisted in April 1917.

 

Embarked for France July 1917.

 

Died of wounds on 1st June 1918. Aged 31.

 

Buried in St. John's Churchyard, Golcar. A.North-West, 70.

 

Harry was wounded in the left shoulder on the 14th April 1918 and was admitted to Fazakerley Hospital in Liverpool where he died.

 

Harry's brother Frank was married to Lizzie but did not serve in the war as he died on 1st October 1914 aged 26. Probate of Harry's will was granted at Wakefield on 31st July 1918 to his brother's widow, Lizzie. Executors were Annie Swift (wife of Crowther Swift) and Joseph Dyson waste merchant.

 

He was a member of Golcar Conservative Club, and attended St. John's Church Golcar, where his name appears on the Roll of Honour in the church.
