Willie Bamforth

Born: 22nd  August 1893 in Marsden.

 

Son of the late Tom and Mary E. Bamforth of Planks, Marsden.

 

Married Rebecca Gool at Slaithwaite on 2nd  September 1912.

 

Address: 8 Longroyd Bridge, Huddersfield.

 

Occupation: Labourer at the United Indigo and Chemical Company, Longroyd Bridge.

 

Enlisted 26th  April 1916.

 

Died: 16th November 1918. Aged 25.

 

Buried: 21st November 1918 in St. Bartholemew's Churchyard, Marsden.

Willie was wounded at Ypres in August 1917 and at Rheims on 23 ^ (rd) July 1918. He was brought back to Huddersfield and died of bronchial pneumonia in Royds Hall War Hospital. His attended Paddock Church of England School and his name is on the Roll of Honour at All Saints Church Paddock (Now a private House) and St. John's Church, Golcar.
