Born: 1886.

 

Son of John Micklethwaite Abby.

 

Married Miranda Harrison on 4th January 1908 at St John's Church, Golcar.

 

Father of John, Thomas and Marion.

 

Address: 27A Slades Road, Golcar.

 

Occupation: Employed at John Crowther's, Milnsbridge.

 

Enlisted: July 1918.

 

Killed accidently 10th December 1918. Aged 32.

 

Buried at Douai Military Cemetery. C. 34.

 

Grave inscription reads: Ever in our thoughts.

 

Douai was in enemy hands from 1st October 1914 to 17th October 1918. The 42nd  Casualty Clearing Station was posted in the town from 25 ^ (th) October 1918 to 25th

 November 1919. Graves were brought in from nearby battlefields later and the cemetery contains 235 casualties.

 

Albert was sent to France after the Armistice, and died three days after arriving while clearing the battlefields. His youngest child Marion was just 5 months old
